My name is Mrs. Sherry Cristofori and I am your child’s preschool teacher this year. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself. I graduated from Elmhurst College in the spring of 2004 with my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. I taught early childhood preschool for 2 years in Bartlett, IL within the Elgin School district. In June of 2006 I accepted a position in Troy 30C school district as an inclusion special education teacher for second graders for one year. The following year, I transferred to the Early Childhood Department and have been in this program since 2007. I studied at the University of St. Francis for my master’s degree in Differentiated Instruction and graduated in May 2009. I went back to school and received my ESL endorsement through National Louis in 2014. I have been teaching Preschool Special Education for 19 years of my teaching career.
I live in Joliet with my Husband, Mike, 18 month old Son, Cameron, and a dog; an English/French Bulldog mix named Jax. We have been married for almost 10 years. My husband and I love riding our Harley with our group of friends, going out to eat, and going on trips. We enjoy visiting the zoo, and tumbling classes with Cameron, anything that keeps him moving as he is an active toddler.
I look forward to building relationships with children and families new to our program and continuing to grow with students returning to our class. I am excited to begin my 20th year of teaching with new ideas, enthusiasm, and a genuine love of learning. As a partner in your child’s education, I feel it is very important for the lines of communication to be very open. I believe that children learn to make good behavior choices through firm, consistent expectations. The children and I will create classroom expectations that I will share with you in upcoming newsletters. I am excited about all of the learning opportunities that this year brings! Please don’t hesitate to call me or email me with any questions, concerns, or celebrations. Very importantly please continue to read to your child every day. This helps build vocabulary knowledge and early literacy skills.
Thank you for entrusting your child to my care, Mrs. Sherry Cristofori
